Camping at Cwmnanthir

Our simple field based site is peacefully situated alongside the Nant Hir adjacent to coppiced woodland in the Brecon Beacons. Buzzards, Herons and a range of other wildlife compliment our free-range pigs, sheep, goats and a mixture of poultry and waterfowl. Seasonal produce from our own stock and vegetable gardens is available and there is always wood for a fire.

A WC/washroom is provided although there is no shower – local sports centres provide the easiest way of freshening up. A covered area is available for use in bad weather and there is secure storage for bikes, canoes and so on. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Two nearby villages – Glynneath and Ystradgynlais- provide shops, Post Offices and cash points. A number of local pubs provide good food in a welcoming atmosphere.

Located on the southern edge of the Beacons we are ideally placed for the quieter peaks and waterfall country, whilst still only half an hour from the more popular tops.
Forestry Commission parks including superb mountain biking trails and woodland walking are nearby whilst the surf and beaches of the Gower are less than an hour away.

Beneath this area lies one of the UK’s premier caving regions with caves to suit all levels of experience with advice and equipment hire available locally.

The Dan yr Ogof Show Caves and Craig y Nos Country Park in the Upper Swansea Valley provide a good day out for families as do a number of heritage sites and museums.
The Taff Trail and other Sustrans routes provide safe cycling on well-marked routes whilst the more experienced can reach some challenging routes from our doorstep.

Transport can be arranged for linear walks or rides.

Snowdon Lodge the birthplace of "Lawrence of Arabia"

Offers accommodation at its WTB 4 star Hostel on a self catering or food supplied basis.

The area is scattered with old mines that are accessible and incredibly interesting as seeing the old tracks and pumping gear left in position for many, many years. You often come across candles still in place on the walls left from the last century and tools used by the workers.

This kind of caving can offer abseiling for all standards and miles of tunnels to explore, with tunnels being found and excavated all the time.

Come and join us at Snowdon Lodge and we can help guide you to places not found in the guide books, even come and join us on some private trips. We offer a drying room and are licensed for the drink after the trip and with another 3 local pubs 150 metres from here what more can anyone ask for.

Check out our website and contact us if you need any information.
