Yorkshire Subterranean Society - Helwith Bridge
Located between Horton-In-Ribblesdale and Stainforth, the "School" offers excellant facilities for Cavers, Walkers and Mountain Bikers.
The facility is a converted school and offers central heated
accommodation with four non-member dorms and one member dorm - total
sleeping capacity of approx 32 (non-members) (some bunks are double for
couples, bringing the total to 38).
They offer all facilties including dehumidified drying room, equipment
storage, kitchen, dining room, lounge, ladies and gents showers and
toilets and fully double glazed with

The club has accommodation available in the Swansea Valley,
in the heart of the Mynydd Ddu or Black Mountain. The club cottages are
situated next to the superb Ogof Ffynnon Ddu system, and are very close
to other classic caves such as Dan yr Ogof and Pant Mawr Pot. Other
excellent caving trips are also a short drive away e.g. Little Neath
River Cave, Porth yr Ogof, Ogof Pasg and Llygad Llwchwr.
The cottages have full facilities: changing rooms; showers; drying
room; charging racks and a large kitchen. Groups of 20 can be catered
for, whilst plenty of camping space is available. Rates are currently:

The WSG owns Caerllwyn, The
WSG owns Caerllwyn, a detached rural cottage in the Brecon Beacons
National Park which is available for hire to caving clubs or bona fide
groups of cavers.
The cottage is near to the
Swansea Valley and convenient for caves of the West and Central Brecons
(OFD, Dan yr Ogof, Pant Mawr Pot, Little Neath, Ogof Fechan and so on).
The cottage sleeps 16 in a single bunk room and there is room for up to
6 tents in the garden area. Kitchen (bottled gas stoves), fridges, 2
Hot showers (unisex) and washroom, with drying room and WC block.
There are three pubs within walking distance (2Km), The Lamb, and the
Red Lion in Penderyn, and The New Inn in Rhigos.

Tredegar is located on the heads of valley road (A465) so it's easy to get to many of the cave sites.
Llangynidr moor and Clydach Gorge within 15 minute drive.
Our simple field based site is peacefully situated alongside the Nant
Hir adjacent to coppiced woodland in the Brecon Beacons. Buzzards,
Herons and a range of other wildlife compliment our free-range pigs,
sheep, goats and a mixture of poultry and waterfowl. Seasonal produce
from our own stock and vegetable gardens is available and there is
always wood for a fire.
A WC/washroom is provided although there is no shower – local sports
centres provide the easiest way of freshening up. A covered area is
available for use in bad weather and there is secure storage for bikes,
canoes and so on. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
Two nearby villages – Glynneath and Ystradgynlais- provide shops, Post
Offices and cash points. A number of local pubs provide good food in a
welcoming atmosphere.
Located on the southern edge of the Beacons we are ideally placed for
the quieter peaks and waterfall country, whilst still only half an hour
from the more popular tops.
Forestry Commission parks including superb mountain biking trails and
woodland walking are nearby whilst the surf and beaches of the Gower
are less than an hour away.
Beneath this area lies one of the UK’s premier caving regions with
caves to suit all levels of experience with advice and equipment hire
available locally.
The Dan yr Ogof Show Caves and Craig y Nos Country Park in the Upper
Swansea Valley provide a good day out for families as do a number of
heritage sites and museums.
The Taff Trail and other Sustrans routes provide safe cycling on
well-marked routes whilst the more experienced can reach some
challenging routes from our doorstep.
Transport can be arranged for linear walks or rides.

We are a turning north off the A4109 midway between Abercrave and
Glynneath. The lane is surfaced but unnamed – after a mile pass through
the gate and park by the duck pond.

The
area is scattered with old mines that are accessible and incredibly
interesting as seeing the old tracks and pumping gear left in position
for many, many years. You often come across candles still in place on
the walls left from the last century and tools used by the workers.
This kind of caving can offer abseiling for all standards and miles of
tunnels to explore, with tunnels being found and excavated all the time.
Come and join us at Snowdon Lodge and we can help guide you to places
not found in the guide books, even come and join us on some private
trips. We offer a drying room and are licensed for the drink after the
trip and with another 3 local pubs 150 metres from here what more can
anyone ask for.

Devon Area and further afield. The Hut still sleeps 12 in one bunk room
on newly built wooden Bunks, The is space for a further 4 people using
materess (supplied). The Lounge and kitchen areas have also undergone a
refurb, with 8 electric cooker rings, hot water heater, fridge and
extensive worktops. Electricity is via a £1.00 meter.

for local caves are available for visiting groups, if you require a
Bakers Pit key this can be arranged by the Hut Warden for a £5.00 fee
